The SIDEKICK pod is an easy to use, reconfigurable, autonomous data handler able to perform advanced tasks or missions.

Anyone has the ability to quickly deploy its own combination of survey instruments

SIDEKICK gives you the ability to deploy your specific combination of oceanic sensors, with ease, efficiency and confidence. Done with that mission? Just reconfigure and deploy with another set of instruments.

​

SIDEKICK is more than a data logger! It can be a state-machine, a controller, and a decision-maker. It's able to communicate via TCP or simply broadcast info.

​

Perhaps you've developed your own MatLab, LabView or Python code that you'd like to run as you acquire data real-time and in-situ? SIDEKICK is able to read your code and integrate it.

​

SIDEKICK packs the robustness of industrial automation solutions, but does not require its users to be software engineers or marine technicians to enjoy its full benefits.

The SIDEKICK pod uses Sixclear's JADE, a powerful application development environment, ran from GIOTA, a high-performance, single-board computer. Jade leverages a powerful plugins architecture, seamlessly synchronized, while integrating the notion of publishers and subscribers. Any data published into the system can be subscribed to, by as many plugins as you desire.

 

Jade allows you to quickly create your own application by dragging and configurating plugins

 

Example of plugins:

Serial plugin....Log & broadcast data from any serial instrument

State-Machine plugin...create your own triggers by monitoring a switch or data from an instrument

Multi-chart plugin....display data in graph form

Basler plugin...control and record videos from Basler Industrial cameras

Navigation plugin...create automated flight controls for your ROV, AUV, ROTV

Actuator plugin...actuate a linear actuator (move a wing, open./close a net)

TCP plugin...query the system and/or broadcast statuses
